Feira de Educação e Língua Portuguesa: 31 Março 2012Throughout the years 2010 e 2011 the Advisory Board for the consular area of Newark has been reflecting and analyzing the most important problems faced by the Portuguese-American communities of this consular area. The Education and the learning of the Portuguese Language were identified as priority topics .

That’s why we decided to organize this event. The Fair will focus on the topics of university education/scholarships/and Portuguese language in the USA/New Jersey. The public to which the Fair is destined are high school and university students and their families. The main objective is to promote the advantages of higher education and the learning of the Portuguese language and at the same time increase the mutual knowledge among the different institutions and individuals in the field.

A special word of thanks to Dr. Mário Santos (and his team), the Principal of East Side High School, in Newark, that not only accepted to be a partner in this initiative but also for opening the doors of the school for the Fair.

Let me also extend my gratitude to all the participants, organizations and many of you in the community, and in particular to all the sponsors of the Fair.
Maria Amélia Paiva
Consul-General of Portugal and
President of the Advisory Board
